New Recycling Waste Legislation - Are you ready?

Writer: Charlotte ElliottCharlotte Elliott

From 31 March 2025, new recycling laws will come into force in England, requiring all businesses with more than 10 employees to separate dry mixed recyclables (Glass, metal, plastic, paper and cardboard) and food waste from general waste.

The legislation will also change how food waste is collected and aims to stop food waste from going to landfill. Food waste can no longer be placed in general/non-recyclable waste bins or mixed with other recyclable materials and must be put into a specific food waste container for collection.

Businesses can use the same bin for dry mixed recycling of glass, metal, plastic, paper and cardboard. This means that you will need a minimum of three waste containers (bins, boxes or bags).

These changes should help businesses cut recycling costs as well as increase recycling rates to support your sustainability goals.

These regulations are part of the government’s push toward reducing landfill usage, promoting sustainability, and streamlining waste management practices for businesses.

At Elliott’s we are specialists in waste management solutions, to provide your business with all of the information and products required for this change in law.

We have several options of bin styles available including traditional recycling bins, step on containers , slim jim bins and general waste bins. These suit a range of budgets, front of house, customer facing and back of house areas.

We also provide signage, clear liners, compostable liners suiting a wide range of bins so please get in touch to find out more details and pricing.
